After playing a part in the launch of the space, Marriott International’s 400th hotel in India and the city’s largest premium meeting and conference destination, Mathews now uses his passion to show guests the best of the hotel and Bangalore. “When I see guests leave the hotel with a smile on their face, share positive feedback and write emails of appreciation, I feel like I’ve done my job well,” he says.

Some of his favorite recommendations at the hotel include unwinding poolside where guests can relax in cabanas, stopping for a drink at the Chime bar which specializes in gin cocktails and food pairings, and following that up with dinner at Upper Cut, the hotel’s barbecue and grill dinner restaurant. Other top spots include the pastry counter in the hotel lobby and InAzia, the Pan-Asian restaurant. Of course, the fitness center and spa also offer guests, whether traveling for work or not, a place to unwind and relax.

When it’s time for guests to leave, the ‘fond farewell’ tradition sends them off with pictures, a pastry and a note to remind them of their time in Bangalore. “it’s a nice memory they can take back.”
